High Court Judges Aggrey Muchelule and Said Chitembwe were on Thursday arrested and interrogated for hours before being released by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
Also quizzed were their drivers and clerks.
Justice Muchelule was arrested at his office in the city before being taken to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road.
Lawyer Danstan Omari who is representing Justice Muchelule, accused the government of using criminal procedures to silence his client.
Omari further alleged that the police arrested his client with an intention of 'planting money in his office ' to paint him as a corrupt judge.
"So, the question is that an attempt was made to get judges outside their offices so that money can be planted in Justice Muchelule's office. Thank God, Justice Muchelule never moved out of his office," lawyer Danstan Omari said.
On the other hand, Justice Chitembwe is said to have been arrested at his Mombasa residence before being moved to the DCI offices in Nairobi. Reports indicate his arrest is in connection with land matters.
Justice Muchelule was among five other judges who's names were left out by President Uhuru Kenyatta when he gazetted 34 new judges.
