KPA Board appoints Ambassador John Mwangemi acting MD

The Kenya Ports Authority ( KPA) board has appointed Ambassador John Mwangemi to head the agency in an acting capacity.

The board of directors on Thursday announced the appointment of Amb. Mwangemi as the new acting Managing Director to replace Rashid Salim who retired.

" The appointment of the new Managing Director takes effect from today July 1st as Eng. Rashid Salim proceeds to retirement.The new Managing Director will hold the position until a substantive Managing Director is appointed."  Read in part a statement from the board.

Amb.Mwangemi is the immediate former Kenya's envoy to the Republic of Djibouti.


He previously served as Kenya's High Commissioner to Rwanda.

The top KPA position seat fell vacant in March last year following the resignation of Daniel Manduku who was facing graft allegations. Mr Salim was then appointed on n interim basis.
