Karim Khan recuses himself from Gicheru's cases

Internatinal Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan has recused himself from leading a case facing Kenyan lawyer Paul Gicheru at the Hague based court.

Khan who represented Deputy President Willam Ruto in  the 2007 post election violence case took over from Fatou Bensouda a fortnight ago.

Confirming Khan's recusal pre-trial Judge Reine Alapini Gansou said Deputy Prosecutor James Stewart will henceforth handle the case.

" The Chamber considers that the Deputy Prosecutor will replace the Prosecutor and perform any of his functions for the purposes of this case,” said Gansou.

Gicheru is facing allegations of interfering with key witnesses in DP Ruto's case.

The 51 year old British lawyer replaced Bensouda for a nine year term.
