99 students and four teachers at Muruku Day Secondary School in Laikipia West sub-County, Laikipia County have tested positive for coronavirus, the highest number to be registered at a learning institution in the country.
According to Laikipia County Chief Officer of Health Dr. Daniel Mugoi , the cases are from 264 samples tested from learners and 17 teachers on Friday after a teacher exhibited COVID-19 related symptoms.
Those learners affected 40 boys and 59 girls have since been quarantined at the institution under the care of the Ministry of Health officials while, three teachers have been put on isolation at the Ol Jabet Medical Center and another at St Benedict Hospital.
Dr. Mugoi assured the parents that the situation was under control, calling on the school community to adhere to the Ministry of Health protocols aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19.
