Rugby fraternity to pay last respects to Ayimba at RFUEA grounds

Rugby players, clubs and federation officials could pay their last respects to former Kenya Sevens coach Benjamin Ayimba before he is laid to rest on June 11th in Alego, Siaya Country.

According to the family spokesperson and friend Oscar Osir, plans are underway to ensure the fallen hero is accorded a dignified send-off with a possibility of the rugby fraternity paying their last respect to Ayimba at RFUEA grounds on June 9th.

"We won the Enterprise Cup, Kenya Cup and the Safari Sevens on this pitch and it if everything goes to plan and allowed we can bring him and allow Kenyans to pay their last respects as we hold a vigil for him,” Osir said

A fundraising ceremony has been set for Thursday 3rd June at Citam Church at Valley Road as they seek to offset a Sh 1.7 million hospital bill. The fundraiser was organized by the Kenya Rugby Union.

Ayimba succumbed to cerebral malaria on May 22nd, 2021.
