Report: MPs Ichung'wah, Limo and Sankok among best performing legislators

Members of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wah( Kikuyu) Joseph Limo( Kipkelion East) and David Sankok( nominated) are among the best performing mal parliamentarians in the National Assembly according to Mzalendo 2020 Parliamentary scorecard.


According to the report, 31 MPs didn't utter a word in parliament in 2020 compared to 21 in 2019.


"175 members spoke less than 10 times accounting for 50% of the House 128 members spoke between 10-50 times accounting for 37% of the House,” the Mzalendo 2020 Parliamentary scorecard report read in part


“Only 33 members spoke over 50 times, accounting for 9% of the House.”

Eight of the MPs listed in this year's report as worst performers reappeared  in the same category last year, they include Oscar Sudi( Kapseret) Alfred Sambu ( Webuye East ) Amina Gedow( Mandera) George Aladwa( Makadara) Rose Museo(Makueni) Gideon Konchellah( Kilgoris) and Abdi Shurie (Balambala).


In the Senate, Senators Johnson Sakaja( Nairobi), Samson Cherargei( Nandi) and Moses Wetangula were ranked among the best performing senators.


Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Kajiado's Philip Mpaayei and nominated senator Victor Prengei were listed among silent members.


The ranking by Mzalendo a non-partisan project founded in 2005 to keep an eye on the Kenyan parliament also ranked Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga and her Murang'a counterpart Sabina Chege among the best-performing female lawmakers.
