The funeral service of the late businessman Dr Chris Kirubi was held at the Faith Evangelistic Minsitry church in Karen, Nairobi on Friday.

Dr Kirubi will be buried at his Thika farm on Saturday, June 19th.


Kirubi died on Monday, June 14th aged 80.

He had been battling cancer since 2016.

Kirubi, the chairperson of the Capital Group Limited was named the second richest Kenyan by Forbes in 2011.

He also made to the list of the top 40 African richest people having been listed at position 31 with an estimated net worth of Sh $ 300 million.


President Uhuru Kenyatta in his message of condolences to the family mourned Dr Kirubi as a seasoned businessman and industrialist who founded and successfully managed some of the country's largest corporation.

He described him as a great mentor and business coach who helped raise a generation of entrepreneurs and corporate leaders.

Dr Kirubi is survived by two children Robert Kirubi and Mary Ann Musangi.



Some of the leaders who attended the funeral service are ODM party leader Raila Odinga, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Amani National Congress party Musalia Mudavadi and Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb. Dr Amina Mohamed
