Covid-19: Kenya records 142 new cases, positivity rate drops to 5.4%

Kenya has recorded 142 new Covid-19 cases from 2,650 samples tested, pushing the cumulative positive cases to 171,226 while the positivity rate stands at 5.4 per cent. 

The Ministry of Health stated that from the new cases, 131 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners and 76 are males while 66 are females.

The oldest patient is 83 years old while the youngest is 14 years old.

The total number of recoveries stands at 117,039, with 85,047 from Home Based Care and Isolation and 31,992 from other health facilities.

From the 16 patients who recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, 9 are from various health facilities across the country and 7 are from Home Based Care and Isolation Programme.

Unfortunately, 18 new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, 

Meanwhile, 18 new deaths have been reported, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 3,206.

The Health Ministry stated, “All the new deaths are late death reports from facility record audits conducted on diverse dates in  April and May.”
