Ancelotti returns to Real Madrid, to replace Zidane

Carlo Ancelotti has ditched Everton FC for Real Madrid for a second spell as the head coach.

The Italian who was previously in charge of the Spanish giants from 2013 to 2015 is set to pen a three-year deal at the Bernabeu.

He replaces Zinedine Zidane who quit Real last week after the team's first trophyless season in a decade.

" Carlo Ancelotti will be the new first-team coach for the next three seasons,” a brief Real Madrid statement read.

He will be unveiled on Wednesday.

Ancelloti had been in charge of Goodison Park since December 2019. Under his spell, Everton finished 10th in the Premier League last season.

In his 26-year coaching career, the 61-year-old has also coached Juventus, Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich.
