President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Kitui based lawyer Morris Kimuli to the Selection Panel of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
At the same time, the President revoked the appointment of Dorothy Jemator whose appointment was backed by the Law Society of Kenya CEO Mercy Wambua and other council members.
" I appoint Morris Kimuli to be a member of the selection panel for the selection of nominees for the appointment of members of the IBEC. The appointment of Kimengech Dorothy Jemator is revoked,” Uhuru said in a gazette notice on Wednesday.
Ms Jemator appointment was however opposed vehemently by LSK President Nelson Havi.
Mr Kimuli was immediately sworn in on Friday morning in a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome at Supreme Court buildings.

Other members of the select panel include Dr Elizabeth Muli, Gideon Solonk, Elizabeth Meyo, Rev Joseph Ngumbi and Dr Faradim Abdalla.
The select panel is set to shortlist and publish the names of the applicants after reviewing their applications.
A total of 669 Kenyans had applied for the post of four IEBC Commissioners that fell vacant following the resignation of Cornie Nkatha, Roselyn Akombe, Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya.
