President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Justice William Ouko as Supreme Court Judge.
Justice Ouko' appointment was announced in a special gazette notice dated May 13th, 2021.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 106 (1) (b) of the Constitution, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President Of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-chief of the armed forces appoints Ouko William Okello to be the judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya."
On May 5th, the Judicial Service Commission unanimously nominated Justice Ouko to the position of Supreme Court Judge.
He will now replace Justice Jackton Ojwang who retired last year.
Other candidates who had been interviewed for the post include ; Justice Said Chitembwe, Justice Marete Njagi, Justice Nduma Nderi, Justice Joseph Sergon, Lawyer Patrick Lumumba and Alice Yano.
Justice Ouko has over 33 years of experience in the legal profession.
