Museveni's swearing-in set for May 12th , as Bobi Wine announces next move

The Swearing-in of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni for a sixth term  has been scheduled for May 12th.

A total of 21 Heads of State have confirmed their attendance to the inauguration ceremony, Uganda's Minister of the Presidency Esther Mbayo has said.

"His Excellency the president has extended invitations to 42 Heads of State both from Africa and the rest of the world, and so far 21 have confirmed attendance," Said Mbayo.

The ceremony will be held at Kololo Independence Ceremony ground in the capital Kampala under strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols with the Minister stating that 4000 guests including former Presidential candidates have been invited to the ceremony.

The announcement of the date comes just hours after National Unity Platform leader and opposition presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine vowed that he will continue his push for change in the country's leadership.

Museveni was declared the winner of the January 14th Presidential election.

President Museveni has been at the helm of the East African nation for more than four decades. He was first elected in 1986.
