Israeli air strike hit Al Jazeera, AP offices in Gaza

A high rise building that houses Al Jazeera English, the Associated Press bureau and other international media houses in Gaza was on Saturday destroyed by an Israeli airstrike.


A live video by Al Jazeera showed the 11- storey Al Jalaa tower which also houses several houses and apartments crashed to the ground after being bombed.

It was not immediately established why the building was targeted.


The building owner Jawwad Mahdi had earlier told the press that he had received a call from the Israeli army warning of an impending strike an hour before the attack.

In Gaza at least 140 people have been killed including 39 children and 22 women since the Israeli bombardment began on Monday.

In Israel, Seven people have been killed in a rocket attack from an armed group in Gaza.
