Former Samburu Senator Sammy Prisa Leshore has been gazetted to replace Issac Mwaura as a Member of the Senate representing people living with disabilities ( PWDs).
In a Gazette notice dated May 10th, 2021 the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said, Isaac Mwaura stands disqualified.
This is despite a court order that was issued by the High Court in Nairobi on Tuesday against his removal.
Justice Joseph Sergon in his ruling directed that the respondents be restrained from implementing or acting on the verdict of the Political Parties Tribunal pending the hearing and determination of the matter
" I am also convinced that there is need to grant interim orders. Consequently, the motion dated May 11, 2021 is fixed for interpartes hearing on May 24, 2021,” Justice Sergon said.
Additionally, the judge issued an order for stay of further implementation of the Gazette notice number 4597 issued by Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka on May 10th.
