The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that Kisumu County is the leading in the total number of Covid-19 infections (103) as the country has recorded 573 new cases in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 9.9 per cent.
Nairobi follows Kisumu with 61 infections, followed by Kitui with 57 and Kericho with 43.
On Friday, the COVID-19 ward at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital was full.
Governor Nyong’o had earlier assured residents that everything was under control but the recent surge proves otherwise.
The new infections that the country has recorded in the last 24 hours as tested from 5,798 samples
have pushed the total of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Kenya to 168,108.
From the new cases, 535 are Kenyans while 38 are foreigners and 365 are male while 208 are female.
The youngest patient is a 42-day-old infant while the oldest patient is 100 years.
Total recoveries stand at 114,452 as 58 patients have recovered from the disease in thr last 24 hours.
39 received home-based and isolation care while 19 received care at various health facilities across the country.
Unfortunately, in the last 24 hours 6 deaths have been recorded, pushing the cumulative fatalities
to 3,049.
