Covid-19: Kenya records 705 new cases as vaccinated Kenyans near 1 million

 Kenya has recorded 705 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 8,853 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 162,098 and the cumulative tests to 1,701,385.

A total of 906,746 Kenyans have so far been vaccinated against the disease countrywide. From these, there are 159,982 Health workers, 141,571 Teachers, 76,578 Security Officers and 249,973 others while those aged 58 years and above are 278,642. 

According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the current positivity rate is 8 percent.

From the new positive cases, 687 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners and 404 are males while 301 are females. The youngest case is a one-month-old baby while the oldest is 100 years old.

The total recoveries now stand at 110,480 after 711 more patients have recovered. From the new recoveries, 412 are from home-based care and 299 are from various health facilities.

Sadly, 25 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, pushing cumulative fatalities to 2,850.

Currently, a total of 1,086 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,381 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

From the 131 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 28 are on ventilatory support, 83 on supplemental oxygen and 20 patients are on observation.

Another 117 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 109 of them in general wards and 8 in High Dependency Units.
