Lawmakers on Thursday overwhelmingly gave the Building Bridges Initiative Bill a nod.
MPs surpassed the required two-thirds majority to vote for the bill that seeks to amend the 2010 constitution.
Out of the 320 MPs, 235 voted in support of the bill against 83, two MPs however abstained.
The MPs who voted for the bill cited inclusivity and increased allocations to both constituencies and counties.
Most allies of the Deputy President William Ruto rejected the bill on the grounds that it seeks to expand the executive and the legislator passing adverse effects to the taxpayers.
" The net effect is that the Ayes have it. Therefore I direct the bill to be read for the third time, " Speaker Justin Muturi said.
During the third reading, the Ayes were 224, Nays 63 while two abstained.
The focus now turns to the Senate where the bill will be up for voting next week.
