Kenya has recorded 572 new covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,624 and the positivity rate has doubled as it stands at 12.4 percent from yesterday's 6.3 percent.
The total confirmed positive cases in the country stands at 163,238 and the cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,715,038.
From the new cases, 526 are Kenyans while 46 are foreigners and 354 are male while 218 are female.
The oldest case is 97 years while youngest is an eight-month-old infant.
Total recoveries now stand at 110,653 after 476 patients recovered from the sidease in the last 24 hours. From the new recoveries, 219 are from home-based and isolation care and 257 are from various health facilities.
Unfortunately, the total number of fatalities has increased to 2,883 after 18 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
Currently, 131 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 26 on ventilators and 80 on supplementary oxygen.
From the cumulative 915,968 persons that have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease countrywide, 534,355 are aged 58 years and above, Health workers 160,862, Teachers 143,525 and Security Officers 77,226.
The Ministry of Health cautioned Kenyans to take the outlined measures vigilantly to protect themselves from the COVID-19 variant from India, pointing out that it is 15 times more deadly.
