Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates have announced they will be divorcing after 27 years of marriage.
In a statement, Bill and Melinda said " After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have decided to end our marriage," the pair said in a statement. "We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life."
The two have been running the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation for close to two decades and have three children together.
Despite the divorce, they have however maintained they will continue running the foundation as they still share a common belief in the mission of helping people across the world.
The foundation focuses on health care outcomes and empowering the less fortunate.
According to Forbes, Bill Gates is one of the richest men in the world with a net worth estimated at $130.5 billion.
The Gates divorce follows another recent high profile divorce between Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Mackenzie Bezos in July 2019.
