A politician's daughter and a businessman linked to a sex trafficking and rape case will remain in police custody until the victim testifies, a Kibera court directed.
In her ruling on Friday, Senior principal magistrate Esther Boke concluded that the two suspects Abdirizak Adan Abdullahi and Faith Bwibo remain in custody, citing the importance of the victim's safety.
Boke noted that a conclusive decision will be made once key witnesses have testified as the two suspects might interfere with witness if let loose.
Through their lawyer Kingori, the suspects urged the court to supply them with documents that prosecution will rely on during the trial. King'ori further pleaded with the court that his clients' mobile phones be returned.
According to court prosecutor Allan Mogere, detectives were still investigating the suspects' phones.
As per the charge sheet, Bwibo illegally and knowingly transported a woman only identified as FJK for sexual exploitation after deceiving her.
Abdul is accused of rape and of damaging the complainant's mobile phone - an iPhone 8 valued at Sh40,000.
The magistrate directed that the matter be mentioned on April 20 for further directions.
