Close to seven million registered voters in Chad head to polls this Sunday as incumbent Idriss Deby seeks a sixth term.
The ruling Patriotic Salvation Movement ( MPS) party have controlled the country's politics since the 68-year-old ascended to power in 1990.
A constitution promulgated in 2018 accorded Deby a chance to seek an additional term after the end of his tenure this year.
Chad's former Prime Minister Albert Pahimi is among seven candidates challenging the incumbent.
During the campaign period, the opposition campaigns were marred by crackdown with the opposition parties threatening to boycott today's polls.
