Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly has rejected the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill, making it the third assembly to do so.
17 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) voted against the Bill while 15 others voted in its favor.
The first assembly to reject the Bill was Baringo County then it was followed by Nandi County.
Nevertheless, the constitutional threshold of at least 24 assemblies passing it has already been surpassed.
In the Baringo County Assembly, 30 MCAs voted against the Bill while only 5 voted in its favor. However, 5 MCAs did not participate in the exercise.
