Accra Road in Nairobi central business district has been renamed Kenneth Matiba road in honour of the late second liberation fighter.
Nairobi MCAs passed a motion to rename the road after the veteran politician.
Matiba passed away on April 18, 2018 at Karen Hospital. He was 85.
The motion to rename the road was moved by Central Ward MCA Daniel Ngegi and was seconded by Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto.
"This assembly urges the County Executive, in conjunction with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, to rename Accra Road in Nairobi Central Ward to Kenneth Matiba Road in honour of the pro-democracy icon regarded as one of the pioneers of democracy, evident by his heroic efforts in pressing for the return of multiparty democracy in the 1990s,"Said Ngegi
During the quest for multiparty, Matiba used the Accra Hotel to regroup and restrategize.
