MPs allege threat on DP's security

Tangatanga MPs have alleged that there is a  threat on Deputy President Ruto's security, claiming there is a hit squad in place mandated  to commit political crimes in his political rallies  and blame it on him and his allies.

The leaders said they had established the alleged hit squad's identities and forwarded them to the relevant authorities for action.

Led by Nakuru Senator, the leaders urged Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to protect all Kenyans including those attending the Deputy President's public rallies.

Kihika stated, "We are aware that a special hit squad has been formed to perpetrate political violence as witnessed in Murang’a County, Msambweni in Kwale County, and the recent functions held at the Coast last weekend."

The team also called upon the US, UK and other international partners to hold the government accountable if anything happens to Ruto or his allies.

“We urge the international community to be on the lookout and regulate whatever is happening in Kenya regarding the DP’s security,” Kihika added.

According to Kihika, the government has withdrawn security from events attended by Ruto thereby putting his life and that of his allies in danger.

The team demanded that security officers sent to cover Tanga tanga rallies should be uniformed and should have badges for identification.

They also asked the courts to desist from being used to persecute those perceived to be anti-government through illegal ruling.
