Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League match between Bandari and Gor Mahia on Sunday at the Mbaraki stadium in Mombasa was marred by accusations of witchcraft leveled across the two teams.
Reportedly, stewards of both teams indulged in a physical confrontation on the pitch hours to the game.
Bandari officials accused Gor Mahia of sprinkling ‘juju’ on the pitch. The centre of the pitch had some white substance, similar to the white paint used to mark the grounds.
According to Bandari officials, Gor Mahia used unsporting means to win the match.
A Bandari steward stated, "They have come with people who are sprinkling some white stuff on the pitch while telling us that we will not score a single goal in the game. This is against the rules of fair play. We tried to stop them but they are forcing their way into the grounds,”
However, the Gor camp denied the opponent's claims.
They stated, “We have a right to access the pitch and inspect its state as part of our preparations for the match. Bandari are just scared of our presence. Nothing else. We are not a juju club."
Burundian hotshot Jules Ulimwengu secured a a 3-1 for Gor after his two goals.
