The Judicial Service Commission on Wednesday shortlisted 10 candidates for the position of Chief Justice.
The 10 include; Senior Counsel Philip Murgor, Justice Said Chitembwe, Prof Patricia Mbote, Justice Martha Koome, Justice Nduma Nderi , Justice Marete Njagi, Fred Ngatia, Justice William Ouko, Alice Yano and Prof Wekesa Moni.
Prof Otinga Mare, Brian Matangaro and Otondi Ontweka who were on the initial list of applicants were not shortlisted.
The interviews for the shortlisted candidates for the CJ post are set to kick off from April 12th to April 30th with the panel set to grill a candidate a day.
JSC has urged members of the public with any information regarding the candidates to submit in writing by March 3rd, 2021.
JSC will interview the shortlisted candidates for appointment by the President subject to approval by the National Assembly as provided for under Article (166) of the constitution.
The CJ post fell vacant following the retirement of Chief Justice David Maraga in January 2021.
