Popular Kalenjin gospel musician Hellen Koligey succumbed to breast cancer , Nakuru Woman Rep Liza Chelule announced on a her official Facebook page on Friday, January 8th
Chelule wrote, "Kalenjin Gospel artist Hellen Koligey succumbed to breast cancer. May her soul rest in peace."
The late Koligey is famed for songs like Ichilili, Kiatil Etyet, Achame Jesu and Moutien Chi Jehovah.
Atleast 6000 new cases of breast cancer are recorded in the country every year, making it the leading type of cancer in Kenya .
The Ministry of Health has been conducting breast cancer screening as well as appealing to women to get tested.
Some of the signs of breast cancer include a lump in the breast, asymmetry, skin retraction, recent nipple retraction, blood-stained nipple discharge and eczematous changes in areola.
