Members of County Assembly of Kisumu have cut short their long recess to debate the Building Bridges Initiative bill.
The MCAs have been on recess since December last year and were expected to resume their sitting on February 10th.
Confirming the development, Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro said that the MCAs will reconvene on Tuesday, February 2nd
The bill is expected to be tabled in the afternoon session.
Earlier in the week, IEBC sent out the draft bill to the 47 county assemblies for consideration following a successful verification exercise.
IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati said the assemblies have 3 months to consider the constitutional amendment bill.
The BBI bill was supported by 1.14 registered voters, a necessary requirement to enable the bill to proceed for debate
