CoG elects new chairman

Embu Governor Martin Wambora is the new Council of Governors Chairman.

Wambora beat Kitui's Charity Ngilu and Tana River's Dhadho Godhana to succeed Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who served for two terms.

He will be deputised by Kisii Governor James Ongwae.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana opted out of the race yesterday citing conflict of interest owing to his intention of vying for the presidency.

Kibwana had previously served as the council's Chief Whip a post that Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos bagged.
