State House spokesperson Kanze Dena has announced that President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to begin a 4-day working tour in Central Kenya.
Addressing the press in Nyeri , Dena also revealed that the President will hold a series of meetings on Friday with the region's various stakeholders before a major meeting with Mt Kenya leaders on Saturday.
Ms Dena added that after the meetings, President Uhuru will tour the regions different development projects.
The President’s tour itinerary will be released to the media in due time.
There have been claims that Uhuru is attempting to get the region to back the BBI report by reigning on his backyard. However, the State House announcement seems to water down such claims.
A section of leaders claim that instead of being a symbol of national unity, the President has concentrated a lot of effort in his backyard.
Reportedly, the regions leaders allied to DP William Ruto have not been invited to Saturday’s event, making the Sagana meeting attract a lot of attention from the media.
On Thursday, 41 legislators penned a letter to the President claiming that they had been forced to address him publicly after being blocked from the Sagana meeting.
In the letter, they also accused him of disrespecting them yet they worked so hard to get him to office in 2017.
The lawmakers also claimed that the President had worked so hard to convince the region that ODM leader Raila Odinga was Kenya’s problem but now he wants to force the former Prime Minister on them.
