Cocaine, methamphetamine on transit to Australia, India seized at JKIA

Police at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) seized several kilos of cocaine and Methamphetamine destined for Australia and India.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives intercepted the books and hair braids in which the narcotic drugs were concealed. 

Police stated that the first consignment destined for Australia from Zambia had been described as books but when opened, each book had an unestablished amount of Methamphetamine.

The second consignment was destined for India from Juba in South Sudan had been described as hair braids but a white powdery substance was found in the packages when they were opened. On inspection, it was confirmed that the substance was cocaine.

DCI boss George Kinoti said, “Both consignments were seized pending further investigations, with ANU detectives seeking Interpol interventions to track down the traffickers and bring them to book.”
