Naivas Supermarket has opened its 67th store at Hazina Towers in a mall in the CBD on Monrovia Street, where Nakumatt Lifestyle was situated.
The 67th Naivas store becomes the fourth branch to be opened in the CBD in Nairobi, following fall of the brands rival Tuskys which closed most of its stores because of financial challenges.
Other Naivas outlets in the CBD have been diversified and redesigned to have a modern appeal with alcohol, deli and grocery sections added to increase revenue.
According to Naivas chief commercial officer Willy Kimandi, the opening of the new branch shows the retailer's resilience in executing its expansion strategy while defying a tough business environment due to Covid-19 disruptions.
Kimandi said, “The new store, a food market is the first of our stores of this format within the Central Business District (CBD). It will be stocked with a variety of quality products to choose, ranging from fresh produce, branded food, general household items, electronics among many others.”
The CCO said that Naivas will continue focusing on Kenyan consumers by expanding locally before venturing into international expansions.
The retailer plans to have 70 branches before the year ends as it is working towards opening additional outlets, a food market in Rongai and a supermarket at Ananas Mall in Thika.
