Late penalty denies Liverpool a win at Brighton

Pascal Gross' controversial injury-time penalty rescued a deserved draw for Brighton.

Brighton won a second penalty after Neal Maupay fired the first spot kick off the posts.

Diogo Jota put the visitors ahead in the 60th minute firing into the bottom corner a pass from Mohamed Salah and passing past two Brighton defenders.

Salah latched onto Firmino's ball and slammed it home but it was disallowed after a VAR review.

Andy Robertson kicked Danny Welbeck's boot - with Stuart Attwell awarding the penalty after viewing the screen - and Gross slammed the equaliser down the centre.

Liverpool are however still top of the table with one point above Tottenham, who visit Chelsea on Sunday. Brighton remain 16th, five points ahead of 17th-placed Burnley.
