A female student from the University of Eldoret has been arrested by police officers for allegedly stabbing a Nairobi lawyer on Monday November 2, 2020.
The police report indicates that the 33-year-old lawyer and the female student who is in her early 20s are lovers.
The police further stated that the two had an altercation over a text on the lawyer’s phone and it was heated the suspect stabbed him three times on the collarbone, back and abdomen with a knife.
According to the police report, the two lovers spent the night at the lawyer's house in Nairobi's Umoja Inner Core area where the incident occurred.
The lawyer is in critical condition receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where he was transferred from Mama Lucy Hospital.
He was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital immediately the incident occurred. Victor Rop, an officer attached to the hospital reported the matter to Buruburu Police Station.
Police have recovered the knife believed to have been used by the suspect and they have secured it as evidence.
In the recent months, there has been an increase in violence cases.
Last month, a Class Six pupil allegedly stabbed her Form 2 boyfriend to death in Nairobi's Lang'ata area.
In the same month, a female police officer in Makueni allegedly chopped of the hand of a Makueni-based lawyer Onesmus Masaku who succumbed to the injuries.
Also, in June a JKIA staff was stabbed to death during a fight with his lover.
