Popular Nigerian music star David Adeleke aka Davido has shared how his relationship with fiancée Chioma Rowland was affected by her feature in his hit song 'Assurance'
He revealed that Chioma and her parents began receiving death threats.
David recounted, "I remember when we shot the video, it was actually just a joke and jokingly I asked her to shoot the video with me. At first, she was like no, because at that time she was at Babcock and she might get kicked out of school and her parents didn't really know that she was seeing me."
He added that threats were from faceless strangers whereby Chioma received messages from about 5,000 strangers spewing hateful messages.
"Even her parents use to get hate texts. It affected our relationship a lot because, before the Assurance video, stuff was so cool. The relationship became a public relationship," said Davido.
Opening up about their wedding, the singer divulged how he was pressured to take a stand. "I did but now we don't. I actually did feel pressured but at the end of the day, it is between me and her. It's not our parents, the public, or our siblings, it is between me and her," he added.
Although the Nigerian star said that he is not focused on marriage at the moment, he confessed that his heart belongs to his fiancee, Chioma.
“I have known Chioma for about seven years. We have been dating for about five years. Lati introduced me to Chioma. We went to the same school, Babcock University. We started as friends but I got so used to her and she got so used to me as well. She is a great cook as well. I'm so happy that now she's getting into the money, we are trying to build a house too. Just trying to make the foundation so solid and not just do something because we are riding on the wave of what people want," David expressed.
