CAF President Ahmad gets 5-year ban by FIFA

Confederation of African Football president Ahmad has been banned for five years by world football governing body for breaching various codes.

The 60-year old, a vice president of FIFA, has been found to have breached codes relating to duty of loyalty, offering and accepting gifts, abuse of position and misappropriation of funds.

Mr Ahmad has also been fined $200,000 . His impending ban was announced by BBC Spot Africa last month and he has previously denied any wrongdoing.

He can however appeal his sanction at the Court of, however, ion for Sport(CAS) once he has received full grounds for decision which could take up to 60 days.

"Thee investigation into Mr Ahmad's conduct... from 2017 to 2019 concerning various Caf-related governance issues, including the organization and financing of an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca, his involvement in Caf's dealing with sports equipment company Tactical Steel and other activities," a FIFA statement read.
