Magdy's 88th-minute winner settled an entertaining match between Cairo rivals Al Ahly and Zamalek in an all Egypt finals held in Cairo International Stadium.
The 2020 edition of the competition had been delayed because of Covid-19 and was held behind closed doors following the Covid-19 rules and measures.
El Soleya rose comfortably above the Zamalek defence to head powerfully in putting Al Ahly infront in just four minutes into the game.
Zamalek captain, Shikabala, produced quite an extraordinary display get them on level terms in the 31st minute.
Elshahat had an empty net to aim at from almost square on to the right-hand post but he only managed to hit that post when they hard a change to put things their way.
Both teams searched for a winner and made great use of the pace of their wingers - Zizo for Zamalek and Magdy for Ahly - to get close but the game looked like it was headed for extra time.
Just then, Magdy was played in on the left, controlled the ball with his knee, flicking it up and then smashing it across and past Gabal Ali to grab a winner for their ninth African Champions League crown.
Al Ahly South African coach Pitso Mosimane, becomes just the third coach to win the title with two different clubs.
