Opposition leader, Raila Odinga, is set to be endorsed as a presidential candidate in 2022 by about 500 Kikuyu elders during their planned visit to Kango Kajaramogi home in Bondo.
The expected endorsement for Raila's bid comes as a surprise, given that the elders are from President Uhuru Kenyatta's Kikuyu community.
It will be the first meeting of its kind, thereby indicating that President Kenyatta might support Raila and not Deputy President William Ruto, after completing his term in the next two years.
The Kikuyu elders are set to make a political statement regarding President Kenyatta's successor after his retirement in 2022.
Luo elders together with select political leaders will also visit Nyeri county on October 30, 2020 for the second phase of the meeting.
