Kiambu residents protested on Wednesday over bad roads in the area.
The protestors barricaded roads after felling a tree and lit up tyres .
Motorists using the road had to look for alternative routes to avoid getting caught up in the chaos.
Police were deployed to restore order amidst the protests.
The protest reinforced the one that was held in July 2020 when Kabete locals protested over allegations that a road contractor was changing course and interfering with private property on a 2-kilometer stretch.
Before that, residents in Lari had launched complaints over the area being sidelined in the planning and executions of development projects in the county.
Last year in June, some of the residents protested against the expansion of Muthaiga-Kiambu road into a dual carriage arguing that it overlooked businesses and essential amenities along the road.
According to Kiambu Governor James Nyoro's announcement in August 2020, the rehabilitation and upgrading of urban infrastructure in the county had already been started by the county government.
The governor added that over 30km of roads set to be tarmacked.
Nyoro said, “Road users across Kiambu County will benefit from the improvement in road upgrading and maintenance through less travelling hours and vehicle operating costs."
