A Nairobi court has issued an arrest warrant against Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi.
The court said the county boss failed to appear in court several times in a case where four men are accused of attempting to extort him Ksh30m.
The four suspects are Abdul Aziz Alim, George Ngugi, Noah Akala Aduwo, and Moses Musee Maluki.
Reports show that in June 2018 the culprits carried out their operations at the Gracia Hotel in Kilimani.
Allegedly, they posed as detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to extort county government officials. However, the suspects denied the charges in court.
The governor is facing other legal issues as in May, he was being investigated by the EACC over anomalies in the procurement process of the establishment of the Covid-19 medical complex in Kilifi County.
