169 mobile phones stolen in CBD recovered





 


In an operation to address roberry cases in the CBD, police recovered 169 mobile phones that were stolen from Nairobians. 


The regional commander, Rashid Yakub, coordinated the operation. 


The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said, "Following several complaints about rampant loss of phones, Yakub ordered for an operation that has netted 169 mobile phones and more than 25 laptops and desktops in the last 48 hours." I detectives began an investigation few months ago to identify robbers in the city, thereby nabbing three suspects and recovering 525 mobile phones. 


According to Mark Wanjala, Central police subcounty commander, majority of 525 recovered mobile phones were smartphones found in a Muthurwa shop. 


Last year, on December 28, a similar operation lead to the recovery of 149 mobile phones. 10 suspects were arrested and 149 mobile phones.
