Several leaders and major clans have endorsed Abdikadir Mohamed to succeed his late father Yusuf Haji, who was Garissa Senator.
Speaking at a Garissa hotel, Mohamed promised to carry the leadership mantle left behind by his father.
He was earlier endorsed for the leadership position by his father’s clan of Abdalla.
At the event at the Garissa hotel, two other major clans of Abduwak and Aulihan endorsed him as well.
Garissa Governor Ali Korane and former National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale were among several leaders who attended the ceremony and endorsed Mohamed collectively.
“Yangu ni kufuata amri na kutoa ahadi ya kwamba niko na viongozi wetu na tutashikana na wao,” said Mohamed.
On his part, Governor Korane stated, “Wale wengine ambao pia wanataka hii kiti ni watoto wetu…tutazungumza nao tuone ya kwamba huyu kijana wetu ameingia kwa hiyo kiti unopposed.”
Duale reiterated, “In memory of our leader, our great son, in memory of a man who served this country, we have unanimously agreed (to endorse his son).”
