Sakaja floors Igathe to win Nairobi Governor seat

Johnson Sakaja is Nairobi Governor elect, after trouncing his main opponent Polycarp Igathe.

Sakaja who was vying on a UDA party ticket garnered 699,392 votes, while Igathe got 573,516 votes.

"Therefore as the county returning officer, l hereby declare Sakaja declared the Governor of Nairobi city county upon garnering 699,392 votes. congratulations the governor-elect, "said Albert Gogo, the county returning officer amid cheers by his supporters.

In his victory speech, Sakaja said he was confident of clinching the Gubernatorial seat amidst several setback from his 'competititor's '

"I want to thank God and the people of Nairobi for believing in me and giving me this mandate and task of serving them as the governor of Nairobi.

"I want to thank my family for allowing me to go through this process. I also thank my Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri for agreeing to be my assistant to serve the people of Nairobi, " Sakaja said.

Igathe who was contesting on a Jubilee party ticket has since conceded defeat and congratulated Sakaja .
