The Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission on Saturday officially cleared Deputy President William Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua to run for the presidency in the August 9th polls.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati while handing the DP his certificate said he met all the requirements set by the commission.
"I am delighted to receive the certificate that will allow Kenya Kwanza to participate in this year's election.
The DP while receiving his certificate exuded confidence that the electoral body will deliver a free and fair election.
"Kenya Kwanza has confidence in IEBC that it is up to the task and I commit that my team will work with you diligently so we can have a credible, free, fair and verifiable general elections," Ruto said.
He becomes the fourth candidate to be cleared for the State House Race.
Earlier IEBC cleared Agano Party's flag bearer, David Wahiga after he complied with the set conditions.
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Candidate Raila Odinga is expected to appear before the commission on Sunday.
Others cleared to contest for presidency include Root Party of Kenya leader Prof George Wajackoyah and Umoja Summit candidate and popular comedian Walter Monga're alias Nyambane.
