Wiper Party has handed former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko a direct ticket for Mombasa gubernatorial seat.
Sonko will be deputised by Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo who had earlier been issued with the party's ticket for the seat but was later withdrawn, according to a deal brokered by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday.
“As a result of wide consultations, Governor Sonko becomes the Wiper candidate to be deputised by Ali Mbogo,” said Mr Musyoka when he handed the ticket to Sonko.
Sonko who was ousted from office in 2020 over corruption and abuse of office will face Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir(ODM) and former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar(UDA) who are both eyeing the county's top seat.
