Rubis CEO deported over economic sabotage

Rubis Kenya Managing Director Jean-Christian Bergeron has been deported over accusation of economic sabotage due to the ongoing fuel crisis in the country.

Mr Bergeron's deportation comes just hours afte a meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Energy Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma .

According to reports , the meeting recommended sanctions against oil marketing companies accused of hoarding fuel and creating panic buying and subsequent shortages in the country.

The measures by the government comes a day after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) made a shocking revelations that the marketers were selling fuel that was meant for the Kenyan market outside the country.

Following the disclosure, four leading oil marketing firms are set to face punitive measures including reducing the capacity of oil that they import into the country.

Despite the national government releasing subsidy to the oil marketing companies , motorists  continue to suffer while looking for fuel. The long queues leading to petrol stations as Kenyans sought to fuel their vehicles.
