Judith Jeptum wins Paris Marathon, sets new course record

Kenya's Judith Jeptum is the winner of this year's Paris Marathon after setting a new  course record time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 48 seconds.

Jeptum who five months ago sealed a spectacular win in Abu Dhabi braced the tough cold condition to break  the record set by compatriot Purity Rionoripo in 2017 by a minute and 7 seconds

" The conditions were tough but I'm happy with what I did today," Jeptum said.

Ethiopians Fantu Jimma and Besu Sado were second and third respectively, more than three minutes off the pace.

In the men's race, Ethiopian Deso Gelmisa made a mighty run to bag the biggest title of his career.

Gelmisa covered the 42 kilometres in two hours five minutes and seven seconds - 14 seconds outside his personal best - as he finished ahead of 2021 Chicago marathon winner and compatriot Seifu Tura.

Tura finished three seconds behind the 24-year-old Gelmisa.

Morhad Amdouni finished third by setting a new record in 2:05.22, improving the mark set by Benoit Zwierzchiewski in 2003 by more than a minute.
