Former Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) director and an aspirant for Kericho gubernatorial seat Engineer Fred Kirui has dropped his bid and instead backed Dr Eric Mutai.
According to an agreement seen by the LATEST, Dr Mutai will run for the county top seat as governor while Engineer Kirui be his running mate.
The signing of the agreement comes hot on heels of United Democratic Alliance ( UDA) party primaries set for April 14th and that has attracted a host of leaders who include former Devolution CS Charles Keter.
Dr, Mutai former lecturer at the University of Embu and a front runner in the race is making his first attempt at the seat while Kirui is in his second attempt.
Other candidates who have declared interests in succeeding Prof Paul Chepkwony who is serving his second and last term include deputy governor Lily Ngok and Prof James Sang.
