The United Democratic Alliance(UDA)party has cleared Deputy President William Ruto as their presidential candidate as two other candidates were disqualified for failing to fulfill the set requirement.
The DP presented his credentials on Saturday before UDA’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for verification.
Tracy Wanjiru, 23,a third-year student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) was disqualified for lacking a degree certificate.
While reacting to her disqualification, Ms Wanjiru exuded confidence in DP Ruto’s ability to fly the party's flag, noting that hope is not lost and she will try again in the future.
Orina Nyakwama another candidate who was seeking UDA Presidential ticket was disqualified for failing to pay the nomination fee this is despite him applying for a waiver, while confirming his disqualification the NEC cited the need for an equal playing field.
Nomination fees for aspirants seeking the party's presidential ticket was Sh1 million for male candidates while female and youthful candidates were to part with Ksh500,000.
Ruto clearance paves way for the party's National Delegates Conference(NDC) that is slated for Tuesday at Kasarani Stadium.
