Sirisia Member of Parliament John Walukhe has dumped the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for the ruling Jubilee party.
Walukhe, a diehard supporter of Deputy President William Ruto confirmed his exit on Friday after he presented his papers for nomination at Jubilee Party headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi.
The second-term lawmaker will be seeking to defend his seat.
Walukhe's defection comes barely a week after Kiambu Senator Kimani wa Matangi ditched Jubillee party and joined UDA.
Wamatangi who until recently was serving as the Senate Majority Whip attributed his defection to a survey he conducted which indicated that UDA was popular amongst residents of Kiambu.
He will be contesting for the gubernatorial seat that has attracted a number of heavyweight politicians who include incumbent James Nyoro, Speaker Stephen Ndichu, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Thika MP Jungle Wainaina and former governors William Kabogo and Ferdinand Waititu.
